Jaiya Daniels was this year’s Gatorade New Mexico Track and Field Player of the Year, which earned her the power to award a $1,000 grant from Gatorade to a community organization that helps the next generation of athletes reap the benefits of sport.

The grant stems from Gatorade’s Play It Forward initiative, a program that works in collaboration with the Gatorade Player of the Year to empower elite high school athletes to give back to a local or national youth sports organization through grants from Gatorade.
