Hana and Amanda Moll, the pole vaulting “golden twins” from Olympia, Washington, were born to fly. They are true TrackGirlz who support each other’s dreams while staying true to their own journeys.
Breaking Barriers
The Moll twins have been making pole vault history since high school. Amanda made headlines as the first female high school athlete to clear 15 feet, shattering multiple national records. Hana stood right beside her, rising to the spotlight by claiming gold at the 2022 World U20 Championships. When it came time to choose their next chapter, the decision was easy: both committed to the University of Washington to continue their legacy together.
Pushing Each Other to New Heights
Now sophomores at UW, the twins have been riding the high of training—and competing—together. This past season showcased their incredible dynamic. Hana Moll stayed neck and neck with her sister for most of the year, ultimately placing first at the outdoor NCAA Championships with a stunning season-best jump of 4.79m (15’ 8.75”). Amanda finished close behind, claiming third with a jump of 4.49m (14’ 8.75”). Just months earlier, at the indoor championships, Amanda took first and Hana was runner-up, both breaking meet and facility records with jumps over 4.7 meters—proving they’re truly in a league of their own.
Their coach, Tim Reilly, admires both their work ethic and the delicate balance they maintain between competition and companionship. While a friendly rivalry fuels them on the field, he says that off the track, they are inseparable. “They are radiant young people whose love for each other is truly heart-melting,” he shares. Behind the scenes, they support one another by balancing each other’s energy and pushing each other to improve.
More Than Competition
For Amanda, the challenge of the sport isn’t just about clearing the bar—it’s also about learning to separate their sisterly bond from their competition. Despite the ups and downs, she says she’s always cheering for Hana. She’s just as happy when Hana takes first and she finishes second as when she wins the title herself. “Her win is my win,” Hana echoed her sister’s sentiment.
The Moll twins embody what it means to be true champions—not tearing each other down, but lifting each other up. Their partnership has made them unstoppable athletes, and they’re only just getting started.
The Sky’s the Limit
Looking ahead to their final two years of NCAA competition, Coach Reilly believes history is well within the twins’ grasp. Their next target is the collegiate record of 5.15m. But for Hana and Amanda, awards and accolades are only part of the journey. They compete for the love of the sport—the medals and titles are just an added bonus.
As they continue to rewrite the record books, the Moll twins show that success isn’t always measured in times, distances, or heights. True success is found in the support you give and the passion you share with those you love.
