Last held in 2019, in Lima Peru, The Pan American Games are finally back! The 19th edition of this prestigious multisport event will make history as it touches down in Santiago, Chile, for the first time, from October 20th to November 5th.
With over 6,000 elite athletes from across the Americas set to compete throughout 38 sports, the stakes are higher than ever, with qualification to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics on the line. While the Pan American Championships encompass a wide range of sports, we are of course most excited about the World of Athletics.
Mark your calendar for October 22nd, for the marathon! Then from October 29th to November 4th, the other track and field events will be taking place.
Team USA will be sending 37 women, including Brooke Anderson and DeAnna Price, who are bound to put on a show! Anderson currently holds the 2023 World Leading Mark in the hammer throw, with a distance of 80.17m, which places her as the third furthest female thrower of all time. During the 2022 season she won gold at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Price joins her in the history books, as her personal best of 80.31m, which is the American Record, ranks her as the second furthest female thrower of all time. In February of 2021 Price broke the women’s world record in the weight throw and she was also the 2019 World Champion and 2023 World Championship Bronze Medalist.

Following the Pan American Championships, the sporting festivities will continue with the Parapan American Games. These games, governed by the Americas Paralympic Committee, provide a platform for athletes with disabilities to showcase their abilities.
The Parapan American Games will take place from November 17 to 26 in Santiago, Chile, and they are an integral part of the tradition of the Pan American Games.
