At TrackGirlz, we believe in the power of mentorship, representation, and community to help young female athletes reach their full potential. Whether it’s through in-person workshops or virtual mentorship sessions, we are committed to creating opportunities for girls to learn from some of the best in the sport.
This February, we are excited to host two incredible events designed to inspire, educate, and uplift young athletes. From gaining first hand insights from a World Champion and Team USA Relay Coach to connecting with an Olympic Gold Medalist, these events will provide invaluable lessons in confidence, perseverance, and success.
TrackGirlz Community Workshop: Learning from a Champion
Date: Thursday, February 6
Time: 2:00 – 4:30 PM CST
Location: Lancaster High School
Eligibility: Open to middle and high school-aged girls
The TrackGirlz Community Workshop is a special opportunity for young athletes to engage with Mechelle Lewis Freeman, an Olympian, World Champion, Pan American Medalist and of course, the founder of TrackGirlz. With a career that spans international competition, coaching, and mentorship, Mechelle understands not only what it takes to succeed in track and field but also how to apply those lessons beyond the sport.
During this in-person workshop, participants will explore:
- Empowering Stories: Mechelle’s journey from a young girl with big dreams to an Olympian is filled with lessons of resilience, self-belief, and determination. She will share how she navigated obstacles and stayed committed to her goals, providing a blueprint for young athletes to do the same.
- Strategies for Growth: Success in sports is about more than just physical ability. This session will cover essential topics such as mental strength, discipline, and personal development, equipping attendees with tools they can apply both on and off the track.
- Building Community: Track and field can be an individual sport, but the journey is never taken alone. This workshop will foster connections among young athletes, creating a supportive network of girls who share the same passion and ambitions.
For middle and high school girls looking to take their athletic journey to the next level, this is a can’t-miss opportunity to learn from one of the best and walk away feeling inspired and empowered.
TrackGirlz Talk with Alexis Holmes: A Virtual Mentor Event
Date: Tuesday, February 11
Time: 6:30 – 7:30 PM CST
Location: Zoom
Eligibility: Open to middle and high school-aged girls
For those who may not be able to attend an in-person event, TrackGirlz is offering a unique opportunity to connect virtually with one of the biggest names in the sport. Alexis Holmes, Olympic gold medalist and elite track and field athlete, will be joining us for a one-hour mentorship session designed to provide real, actionable advice to young athletes.
What makes this event so special?
- A Firsthand Look at the Olympic Mindset: Competing at the highest level requires not only talent but also a strong mindset, discipline, and the ability to overcome setbacks. Alexis will share personal stories about her journey to Olympic success, offering lessons that apply to athletes at every stage of their career.
- Actionable Mentorship: Many young athletes dream of reaching the top, but they often lack direct guidance from those who have been there. Alexis will break down the habits, training techniques, and mental strategies that helped her excel, providing attendees with takeaways they can apply immediately.
- Interactive Q&A Session: Unlike watching an interview or reading an article, this event allows participants to engage with Alexis in real time. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions, seek advice, and gain insight into the life of a professional athlete.
For young girls who aspire to greatness in track and field, this event is an incredible opportunity to learn from someone who has achieved it all.
Why These Events Matter
The path to success in track and field—or in any aspect of life—can be challenging, especially for young female athletes who may not always have access to the right resources and mentors. By creating spaces where girls can hear from strong role models, learn valuable skills, and connect with peers, TrackGirlz is ensuring that the next generation of athletes is equipped with everything they need to thrive.
